ABOUT

TREATMENT

  • Sessions lasts up to an hour.

  • You will be comfortably positioned, either seated or laying down.

  • With relaxed or closed eyes, you will bring stillness to your body and mind.

  • Your facilitator will direct you to listen to the language of your body. This will involve paying full attention to the inhalation and exhalation of your breath.

  • You may also participate in body scan meditation, paying attention to different areas of the body and its sensations. 

  • Mindful movement and walking may also be part of your session. 

  • Mindfulness is a type of meditation that navigates a person’s focus to the present moment. The purpose is to become aware of the mind’s thoughts when it wanders, but without judgement.

  • This simple form of meditation allows people to understand themselves better and appreciate that thoughts are transient unless we dwell and act upon them. 

  • Ultimately, mindfulness enables individuals to take control of their thoughts and, therefore, take control of their lives. For example, it can help a person recognise and stop negative thought patterns before they dip into the downward spiral of negative emotions or behaviour. 

BENEFITS & USES

It can take years for positive or negative thought patterns to form in our minds. Therefore, mindfulness is not a quick-fix solution to life’s problems. However, it has many long-term benefits for people who make it a regular habit, including:  

 

  • Acting instead of reacting

  • Gaining self-awareness

  • Gaining understanding and control of thoughts

  • Helping to deal with everyday difficulties

  • Improving memory

  • Improving mood

  • Increasing creativity

  • Preventing anxiety, depression and stress

None! Mindfulness is suitable for everyone.
